Every time I try to change my homepage to something it keeps going back to http://hp-desktop.aol.com/. It is a new hp pavilion with IE7. Is there some way to disable this? It seems like it must be somethingHP programed into this to always direct you to the HP AOL page.

Run Ad-Aware from Lavasoft. This may turn up something, which when obliterated will fix the problem.
In IE7 _go to tools menu_internet options_under general tab_change the name of homepage. (whatever you want).
Get Firefox instead. IE7 really has problems.
