Every time I try to change my homepage to something it keeps going back to http://hp-desktop.aol.com/. It is a new hp pavilion with IE7. Is there some way to disable this? It seems like it must be somethingHP programed into this to always direct you to the HP AOL page.

In IE7 _go to tools menu_internet options_under general tab_change the name of homepage. (whatever you want).

Should I finish my AA Degree or just quit?
Long story made short: Right out of HS I went to university on a partial scholarship based on ACT/SAT scores. Did well the first month or so, then got bored and quit going to class. Grades fell...lost scholarship...transferred to community college. After a few years at CC, finally got diploma in office education (after at least 3 program changes; I always started out doing really well, then got bored and quit). This fall, I got a wild hair and enrolled in CC again to finish AA degree, with possibility of going to for bachelor's. I work full time, carry 13 credits and a 4.0 for the semester, which ends next week. I have 18 credits left after this semester, but the problem is....I have absolutely zero intent of ever using my AA degree for anything. There is no major which interests me enough to study it for 2 more years, and I absolutely can not just continue with college for the sake of getting a General Studies degree. I guess my farm upbringing doesn't allow for doing something just for the sake of being able to say I did it...it has to serve a purpose.
Would you continue toward the AA degree, or would you just cut your losses? I'm not talking about %26quot;maybe someday in the future I'll want to get my bachelor's degree%26quot;. I think about the money I could make with a bachelor's degree (or better), but I honestly can't see how it could be worth it. Laptop is always refreshing automatically ?
i have a hp laptop and is here with be for about a year. now it is always refreshing itself. when i just click on the desktop it refreshes several times and the icons of the program got changed. i tried restarting but when i just click on the desktop it flickers and just refreshes many time making no softwares to open. I thought it was a virus threat and soon reformatted it. BUt is was in vein and the problem stated just as before. Okay, this is for a friend. A while back he had a program and had selected the check box to always run similar programs with this particular program. This was a mistake. He is now trying to install a new program that fell into that similar program category. Sot his new program wont allow him to run it because it is not compatible with the old program he used to have, which btw isn't even on his computer anymore. My question is how can he change it so it doesnt attempt to run this new program with one that doesnt exist anymore?

Even when I pause program A, and open up any other program, like internet exploror for example, the pause symbol from program A still flashes over the top of the internet exploror window. and will flash over the top of any other window I open as well. What is it that determines what program takes priority as far as being visible on the desktop? And is there anyway to change this?
I know I didn't do the best job of explaining this, because I'm not familiar with the correct terminology, but hopefully my question is understandable.

If I have a program, such as limewire, that uses Java, is it possible to completely re-skin the interface as in change the appearance and location of buttons, boxes, and windows? I have always made skins by simply changing the hex color codes, but all that does is change colors. I want to give it a more attractive look but moving some things around and change the ugly boxy tabs and buttons to more of a Vista look. I am willing to learn some basic Java programming, but I want to know if it's even possible, and how hard it would be. If it is possible, what files would I look for, what would I want to change in those files?

I am very interested being part of a foreign exchange program going to Ireland. I have always wanted to visit [Ireland] and I think that this would be the perfect opportunity. I just started high school, and if I were to do this, I would prefer going to Ireland around my sophomore year, my junior year would be too confusing with tests, colleges, etcetera. I would also prefer to do it for one semester or during the summer, however I have heard that [a person] would not get the full value of a trip during the summer. I believe that this would be a major learning experience, a life changing one, too. I have found reliable programs such as AFS, Two Worlds United, cci-exchange, along with Rotary. I have heard the best reviews with Rotary, however I am extremely confused about the program. Money is an issue, so I would hope to find a cheaper program, but still with the full value. (Hard to get, huh?) My mom said it could be a possibility, but I have a feeling it is more of a no, because neither parent knows much about any program. Cost once again has a MAJOR affect. So my question is, does anyone have any information about any reliable programs, more info on Rotary, and if you have ever been part of a foreign exchange program, what was it like, regardless of where you went? I also need the best advice on how to convince my parents to let me do this, I really do want to be a foreign exchange student, and learn more about my family's culture and background. If it helps, I live in the US.

Secondly, about programs. If you're finding Rotary to be too expensive, then you will have much more difficulties with the others. Rotary is about the cheapest way to do an exchange! It's also the most competitive program to get into. Most programs do offer scholarships and some places offer loans as well.
I'm not sure where you got information on the programs you listed, but some are definitely NOT reliable -- especially %26quot;Two Worlds United%26quot; which has horrible reviews. It isn't even CSIET (www.csiet.org) listed, which is a BIG red flag! You should stick with the premier organizations -- AFS, YFU, Rotary. Or, at the very least, get a recommendation from you school counselor on trustworthy organizations that he/she deals with.
In the case of a foreign exchange, %26quot;cheaper%26quot; with %26quot;full value%26quot; doesn't equate. The last thing you want is problems in a foreign country with a %26quot;cheap%26quot; program that doesn't live up to what you paid for! And this happens ALL TOO OFTEN.

i had a baby boy 2 months ago. the father was involved during the pregnancy, and stilll hasnt supported the baby at all. he came to the hospital when the baby was born, but now he is in a drug rehab or anger management program till august. hes always changing his story. my concern is that he will be in an out of the babys life i have many reasons for feeling this way. but i think the baby has a lot of love with or without his father. do u think the baby would be afffected in life by his fathers actions. im also going for full custody of the baby and for the father to have supervised visits.

I thinking about changing my major, Advice?
I'm currently a psychology major, it's ok, i don't hate it, just don't love it. Ever since i could remember I have always, like seriously, been absolutely fascinated with the universe. Like: planets, stars, space (space-time), how everything is moving. and how this all affects us, etc... In high school I did extremely well in math, made a 4 on the calculus ap exam (the only ap course my school could afford), and i really love numbers, i actually find myself missing my math classes and this semester i even i took a logic (not exactly like math, but close) course just to get the rush again. but i am so far invested in my major that i am unsure about making the change. What makes me think about it even more a few months ago i looked at my roommate and best friend a psychology major who loves psychology and has books about that stuff and then me, I have almost the entire %26quot;A very short intro series%26quot; on anything dealing with physics, 3 books by Stephen Hawking (though 2 are very similar), and countless little %26quot;finds%26quot;. If I do change, I can see myself dabbling more in astrophysics definitely more theoretical then applied. I never thought about it as a major in high school, no one even mentioned science to me or any of the other females in Honors program. it was always business, nursing, or psychology/sociology or some other soft science, so i didn't think it could be taken seriously. My sister asked me a while ago why I didn't major in it (she's at a different high school and coming to my university next year), and that's when i begin to really think about it. I just thought it was like just some other thing i really liked.
And then of course there's the time and money. And I am pretty sure physics not a field that pays well either so i need to take that into consideration. Any advice

It can take anywhere between a week and no more than 16 months in DEP, to get your job. About 98% of the jobs that leave before this October have been given out already. You will most likley be leaving after October of this year, when job billets open up again.
Did you sign a DEP contract or your job contract. If you know what job you have then your Recruiter should know your leave date and have you sign your JOB contract, which will also state the info.

I started college in 2006. I have 55 earned credits, which I believe qualifies me as a sophomore and I need 128 credits to graduate. I am an English major and I am in the Winter semester of 2009. According to my program, I am supposed to graduate in 2011. Finally, I want to be an author.
I am fond of writing novels, however, I have very little time for it and I don't have any ideas. I have a lot of friends whom are art majors and some of them are graduating soon. My boyfriend also graduated with a BA in Graphic Design. On campus, I am always in the Art Department but I am not taking any art classes at the moment.
Due to some persuasion and the fact the English classes are long, boring, and don't allow me to write fiction. (I have not written anything in awhile). I have been contemplating on whether or not to change majors.
I have always been a creative person.
My problem is that my family may not be as supportive towards the idea of changing majors. I have not made a decision yet. I am planning on minoring in Art. However, I'm not too sure if English is what I want to do anymore. I like writing stories as opposed to long, boring essays and research pepers about A and B and La la la. I don't get to do that in these classes. We read, discuss, and do research.
So boring! I don't want my whole family getting upset and blowing a gasket...The Art majors require the same amount of credits (128). My courses would change. My credits should transfer, and I think I will graduate about the same time. I haven't talked to too many people yet except friends (for the idea) and one uncle (who believes it will cost my mother extra money). I also believe that I will be more than likely to pass classes that I will enjoy taking.
So, is it a good idea to change majors?

Go see someone in academic advising to show you what you would need to do to make the right decision. They can tell you exactly how many of your 55 credits apply towards the other major. It is possible that you may 'lose' a few, but you have to decide based upon information, not speculation. Make a rational informed choice. Tell the uncle to butt out. Offer to pay for a semester on your own if necessary.
In the end, it is your life, and if you let the family make the decisions for you, you will end up resenting it later.

Recently a friend of mine only got two hours of sleep in two days because he was working so hard. He didn't eat, he didn't sleep, his entire time was just working in the art studio. (And, no, he wasn't doing that because he procrastinated.)
You don't need to be in a particular English class to write. If you're really that interested in and passionate about writing, then you should be writing every day, even if it's not for a class.
Switching to an art major may not be as easy as you think. If you're contemplating a BFA then a lot of your liberal arts classes may not count toward your requirements. My Palm Tungsten TX ( I think that is how you say the name!) always gets stuck when I am syncing it.?
It gets stuck during sync mode, right at the end when it says synchronizing tasks and the computer/desktop part says %26quot;installing handheld applications.%26quot; The third wheel that usually is spinning on the TX stops and even when I hit cancel it does not do anything. The desktop part still has the spinning %26quot;wheel%26quot; icon, but it also will not cancel or finish its job. I have left them sit for 12-14 hours before to see if anything changes. My programs work and even after I have to disconnect and shut them both down they work fine. Anyone have any ideas how I can fix it? The only real programs I have added are medical ones, epocrates, Thompson Clinical Expert and a anesthesia logging program. HELP!!!

If that doesn't work, you may need to start from scratch: Make a backup copy of your Palm folder, reinstall Palm Desktop etc from the CD your TX came with, do a hard reset on your TX, and reinstall all your Palm apps (you can copy your addressbook, datebook, notes, etc from your backup Palm folder into your new one so you don't lose any of that stuff).

How do you change your voice?
I'm 17 and I want to be an actor and voice actor. For both of these I need to change my voice (Mines kind of annoying and it is always good to be able to change your voice, just look at Hugh Laurie). What you do is listen to the voice you like and practice, practice, practice. Do so on your own first, saying back exactly what the character says, then when you are confident with that try it out in front of someone you are comfortable with when they least expect it. How do you change your voice?
Pick someone whose voice you would like to mimic (preferably someone who was in a movie or on youtube, whom you can listen to), and tape yourself attempting to simulate their voice. Keep at it, and when you can mimic them, try a different person. Eventually you will be able to change your voice to a whole bunch of stuff.
i have no idea on how to instruct you but just mess around with focus on how it feels when you speak (in your throat) and just feel those musles or what ever and try tweaking what your doing. thats all i really can saying im not the greatest at it and not nearly as good as i used to be. dont strain yourself though or it will make it harder. i do alot of singing and do metal screams and its really messed up my range of none screaming vocals.

Is the VLC program dated? Mine does these annoying things ...?
If I want to watch, say a 'Simpsons' episode, I right click, open with VLC, then VLC icon just jumps, so I FORCE QUIT, then I repeat, and FORCE QUIT again .. on my third attempt it will always work. Is there a new program everyone is using? Is there a program that perhaps could change the coding of my TV shows so I can move into iTunes?

I have a name for my business but need to design a logo but don't have allot of funds. I am creative and have something in mind to use for now for a logo as I can always change it later once business picks up. Microsoft Word 2003, Times new roman font is always Italicized?
Well the above pretty much says it, anyways relatively smart with computers (IE i can program simple things and stuff) but this just stumped me... regardless of the font size it is always italicized, i mean pushing the Italicization button does nothing now but it still thinks regular and italicized are different, yet they are italicized exactly the same amount, which also causes me to lose points on essays sometimes at school which kind of pisses me off due to i can't ******* change it! Can anyone help?

If the Italic button and CTRL/I have no effect, I suspect one of the font files for TNR was replaced with another (probably Times New Roman.ttf replaced by Times New Roman Italic.ttf) in your C:\Windows\Fonts directory.
Copy the four Times New Roman.ttf file from just about any other Windows machine to your C:\Windows\Fonts directory and see if that doesn't cure the problem.
Don't forget to close all copies of Word first.

That's just the way Yahoo has programmed its mails - a return reply is actually a new mail, and can be edited the same way. Consider yourself lucky to have colours - Yahoo Classic has eliminated them and emoticons too.

Try downloading the VLC media player http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ It has most codecs and will play most sources of video. When you pull up the file you downloaded, right-click on it and select open with VLC player.

Ok, well it's hard to say for sure as you have not said which application your using. Assuming that you are using MS Word you can add background patters or even images to write over. Just click on 'Format' in the drop down menus and select Background. Play around with that and you should be able to overcome this problem.
Other then that I would go and see a doctor about your problem (if not already). You may have some underlying medical condition you don't know about and you may be able to get help for it.

I have always wanted to do these things, I have felt that it was a calling, and frankly I believed that it was %26quot;God's Plan%26quot; for me. Latley, I have been thinking about going to cosmetology school. I enjoy the cosmetology field and have FUN doing it, but not totally gratified. However, I feel very guilty about changing my mind or turning my back on dedicating my life to helping others. Any suggestions?

People with disabilities, etc. DO NOT need %26quot;social workers, etc.%26quot; who are there to %26quot;help the poor unfortunates.%26quot; We do need people who are competant, professional, and who see their role as providing the special services we need--to people who are citizens and consumers, not patients or clients. And who respect us as human beings. People who go into that kind of work because they think it s their %26quot;callling to help the helpless%26quot; are not helping--they are perpetuating the stereotypes and institutions that relegate us to the margins of society.
Let me give you an example. A few years ago, some social workers recommended that a young blind woman be given training as a computer data entry operator--and because they decided that was her %26quot;aptitude,%26quot; that wa s the only opportunity they would offer her. She had contacted this particular agency to inquire about training in some new assistive technology she need to learn how to use, not for job placement--and %26quot;agreed%26quot; to the job training only because that was the only way she could get the training she actually needed.
So what's the issue here? Simple: the social workers %26quot;knew%26quot; she was suited only for limited employment because of her disability. And ignored the fact that she had just graduated-with honors--from Harvard.
If you want to %26quot;help the helpless%26quot;-spare us. If you want to shake up the system and help us open doors to equality and full participation in society as citizens and human beings--welcome.

I recently downloaded Webshots Desktop thing....and any time I want to change my desktop picture, after I start up my laptop, or after I wake it up in the morning...it always manages to change back to a Webshots picture. Without deleting or uninstalling the Webshots program....is there a way to make sure that the picture that I choose (that isn't from Webshots) stays as my desktop pictures unless I physically change it to something else?

This line doesn't do what you think it does. What you meant to say was %26quot;if (x %26gt; 0 %26amp;%26amp; y %26gt; 0)%26quot;. The %26amp;%26amp; seperates distinct operations, so the compiler sees it as %26quot;If (x) and if (y %26gt; 0)%26quot;. What this literally means is %26quot;If x is not zero y %26gt; 0%26quot;.

C++ is not a low-level language (C is more so, but not C++) and it's really not that hard. The error you made here would be 100% the same in C#, Java, Python, Visual Basic, etc.
Never ever let anyone scare you away from C++ because it's %26quot;hard.%26quot; It's no harder than any other language... the only difference is that you encounter the difficulty sooner.

You are clearly very new to programming. As I do with everyone trying to learn C++, I will tell you to stop immediately. C++ is a very low level language, and not a good language to start of with.
If you wish to follow my advice, I would recommend you check out the free version of dark basic professional. Its an easy to learn language, whilst being powerful, it has great help files and a good community to help you.

This line doesn't do what you think it does. What you meant to say was %26quot;if (x %26gt; 0 %26amp;%26amp; y %26gt; 0)%26quot;. The %26amp;%26amp; seperates distinct operations, so the compiler sees it as %26quot;If (x) and if (y %26gt; 0)%26quot;. What this literally means is %26quot;If x is not zero y %26gt; 0%26quot;.

C++ is not a low-level language (C is more so, but not C++) and it's really not that hard. The error you made here would be 100% the same in C#, Java, Python, Visual Basic, etc.
Never ever let anyone scare you away from C++ because it's %26quot;hard.%26quot; It's no harder than any other language... the only difference is that you encounter the difficulty sooner.

You are clearly very new to programming. As I do with everyone trying to learn C++, I will tell you to stop immediately. C++ is a very low level language, and not a good language to start of with.

How can I change back a file to a zip file?
I downloaded a zip file to my computer and immediatley opened with itunes and forgot to uncheck the box that says %26quot;always use this program%26quot;, now all of the compressed (zipped) folders i make show an itunes music icon instead of the folder with a zipper. I already know the msconfig thing and it always opens up windows that i don't understand when i start-up. Is there any program that shows what all the programs that open on start-up are and lets you change them?

If you miss any items, like the few seconds saved on Office start, recheck them and restart the machine again. But most of those items just let you change system settings, which people tend to set once and leave that way. Who needs to save a whole click when he wants to change screen resolution?

What's the best affliates programs online for selling movies,movie posters etc?
I have a website about movie reviews and I'm looking for a list of affliates programs my brother and I can add to my webpages. I'm also looking for ones that are always changing . I want everything movies related. You know posters,dvd, tickets, memoriabilia etc too. I need affliates that sell this kind of stuff so that every time I put up a movie review it's such a barren wasteland on my webpage. Currently I felt that the Democrats are always supportive of greater change in social programs but often meet opposition from their Republican opponents and are therefore slow to get enough votes to pass powerful laws. Problem changing my file name?
I'm really not usually stupid when it comes to computers, but I just don't have the time right now. I just put all of my pictures from my recent trip to Europe on the computer and want to change the name of the folder. I had no problem changing 2 of the 3 folder names, but the last one always says :

Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.%26quot;

Your Start Button and taskbar will disappear. Click on the Applications tab at the top and click %26quot;New Task.%26quot; Type in 'explorer.exe' and watch everything reappear. Now delete or rename your file.

Safe Mode in Windows loads only the essential programs and services. I'm sure you will be able to rename the folders / files this time around.

Change GYM Program to more than 3 days???
I am looking to change up my gym program to more than 3 days a week, because I am not seeing results.
I am trying to get toner and more cut and leaner, but Im already close just not close enough, Im 6 feet 175, but trying to get tighter, would increase my cardio workout to 4 or maybe 5 days a week, show any improvement or would it be unneccasary?
My workout now consists of basically upper body cardio and lower body weights , an overall whole body workout 3 days a week,
How can I change my program to get cutter and tigher, I've heard cabling, but I havent really felt comfortable doing cable machines, because I feel I'm not doing them right,
Also are their any advantages to machines versus free weights when it comes to being tighter and leaner, I have always felt smoother and in control by using machines and have stayed away from free weights
Any insight from professionals would be helpful
Also, random thought, I want to have basketball player arms, lean and ripped, HOW?

Free weights are better. But before you add another day to your program, re-evaluate your diet plan, perhaps you are eating too much.

Why is it when i run my turbo c program in other computers it doesn't run?
each time i run a turbo c program(saved in flash drive) in a computer without turbo c it always give an error message %26quot;unable to create output file 'c:\turboc~1\filename.obj'.i change the directory to %26quot;c:\turboc~1%26quot;
but it still the same, the program always gave me that error message.

uninstall the program change the drive letter to X for the flash drive. reinstall the turbo c program like b4. but on X obviously.
then open the program change the output file save location to X as well...when you put your drive in a friends pc change the letter to X for the drive...then use it
the above is experimental not the absolute solution...

Are you sure it is your program you are trying to run and not part of the compiler.

Do you have the appropriate permissions?
The tilde setup like ~[1-9] are the shortented forms of long directory names. So try creating the full length name instead of c:\turboc~1
Any odd environmate varible values?
Try running it in a pure dos environment if it is dos based(eg dosbox)

Is there a program i can use to hide all the sites i visit on the internet.?
I have a roomate who always visits the sites i visit then asks me about them. I don't want to change internet settings. (That does not work anyway i have tried) Also i am not doing this for security reasons. I just want to be able to surf and not leave a trace on the address bar or when you type letters in the address bar and it guesses according to what letter you type.

i gotta new newe laptop with 320 gig and 288 is avalible coz of the o.s
but i alredy have 3 gig of piks 4 gig of movie and 8 gig of music and like nealy 2 gig of programs(everyone( but everytime i seem to downlaod anything it droopes like 3 gig right now it say i have 210 g left but it isnt right coz all i have on there is what i listed coz it always changes but i dunno if something is doing it nut i have no viruss or anything but when i got serice pack 2 of vista it it went away and said i have around 255 but its gone again and i dont wanna no wHAT HAPPENS if it gets to zero?? has anyone else expericed this/ somneone help mne please lol
my specs are acer aspire 5536g 4 g ram 320 hd ati radeon 512 mb graphic amd athlon x2 an vista honme premium ill give full points for any help

Wait now.. I'm confused..
Memory = Ram, so your ram is 4GB (This will keep going up and down depending on how many programs you have running)
HD = Hard drive = Storage
If it (hard drive space) reaches zero you just can't save anything anymore, the computer will still work reasonably. . . but it should take years to fill 320 gb
And yeah you can try CC cleaner ... but what an odd problem.

That is kind of odd. I would try doing a disk cleanup. I am not sure about vista, but in Xp, you go to Start Menu %26gt; Programs %26gt; Accessories %26gt; System Tools %26gt; Disk Cleanup. I would also suggest running a disk de-frag analysis on the drive to make sure that the drive isn't being fragmented. (it should be in the System Tools, by the disk cleanup.)
Hard drives should be de-fragmented from time to time, but if it gets fragmented fast, it could be a bad hard drive. I would defrag it then check in a day or two to see if it needs to be done again.

When I first started high school I was a little overweight. I had low self esteem so I decided to do something about it. I worked very hard on changing how much I ate (but not so much WHAT I ate which was still bad.) Anyway, I lost a lot of weight and I was happy with myself. Flash forward a few years... I had a son and wanted to lose the baby fat as soon as possible. Not only did I cut back on how much I ate, I ate way healthier (I.e. very few refined sugars and carbs, very little red meat or meat in general. Never been that big on dairy so don't eat much of that now either. Just fruits and Vegetables and whole grain foods. Only drink water etc...) and I also have been working out. I used to do only cardio to lose weight and now I do cardio and strength training to build muscle as well. So my problem is, I am back down to the weight I once was before having a baby, but i used different ways to achieve it. My body looks amazing but, my face has gotten very thin. It was never this thin before when I was the same weight. I always liked that my face looked fuller, and people used to always guess my age years younger than I was, (this was just over a year and a half ago). Now people think I am my age or much older... My skin looks beautiful but I hate my new thin face...it looks sunken in. I am a normal weight I am not underweight at all. All I can figure is that my diet and exercise program has changed how my face holds weight. Does that mean I need to start stuffing my face with twinkies again to make my cheeks fuller? I don't want to gain weight, as a matter of fact I would have lost more weight if it weren't for my face. Is there anything I can do to make my face plumper again other than gaining weight, eating poorly, or surgery? I love being in good shape but I hate hate hate that it has aged the appearance of my face :(

I lost a lot of weight and it definitely changes the appearance of your face. I actually think I was prettier when I was overweight but thats not healthy. "Virus Program" has taken over my computer?
For the last few days I've been having a major virus related issue. I have AVG and Ad-Aware which run constantly in the background, and I also have Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware which I have never really used before until now. I use a wireless internet connecting through my computer to my University's wireless network.
My problem is that now whenever I have my computer on, a few minutes after I start it up I get messages from an %26quot;antivirus%26quot; program that I do not have, telling me that windows has detected a security threat, that my computer is infected and saying %26quot;click here for the scan you computer%26quot; (certainly a very trustworthy program). I always close the bubble but then I get bombarded with messages that specific files are infected. Usually it says %26quot;Application cannot be executed. The file wuauclt.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?%26quot; I don't know what wuaclt is. Whenever I try to open a program -- any program at all, whether it be itunes or just my program manager, the message changes specific to whatever I'm trying to open: %26quot;the file itunes.exe is infected%26quot; or whatever, and usually the program does not open. These messages come from my taskbar where there is a little blue shield icon with a white stripe. I have tried right-clicking on this icon to close it like I would do with any %26quot;normal%26quot; application in the taskbar, and when I do it pulls up a %26quot;virus scan%26quot; window for %26quot;Antivirus Live%26quot; with 34 infections found -- always the same things. It often, but not always, will also open a window in the main screen of my computer giving me the same message and playing that distinctive %26quot;windows error%26quot; sound. After a while, it will automatically open an IE browser window (I use Firefox) asking me to buy this %26quot;Antivirus Live%26quot; program for $50 to $70. I closed this window a few minutes ago and it automatically opened another IE window with a porn site -- very classy when I%26quot;m working the front desk of my building. It will also open the Windows Security Center automatically, but I don't think it's the real security center because it says that I do not have anti-virus protection when in fact I do.
The first few times this happened, it would either go away on its own after a few minutes, or I could restart my computer and it would work properly on restart. Since my antivirus/antispyware programs weren't finding anything significant I didn't worry too much, and there was a full day of no problems at all. Now, however, the problem seems worse than ever, and I can't even really use my computer. As a college student this is a major problem for me.
AVG has found a few trojans and quite a few tracking cookies, but removing them has not taken care of the problem. The anti-spyware and anti-malware have not found anything. I just downloaded and installed avast, which I used to have a while ago and I prefer over AVG, and I'm currently running a scan but it hasn't found anything yet. I don't know what is going on but it's driving me crazy and I would like any help available to try and fix it.

Download and install SPYBOT. you can download it for free from www.downloads.com Very easy to use software and works flawlessly.

i didn't read any of that, but if you have too many viruses and you cant get rid of them, email/save onto a permanent disk all you files that you need. wip your hard drive. i had to do that when i had more than 15 viruses and really bad things on my computer. it works and you can get back ur stuff. i emailed my pictures and docs to myself and that's how i got them back.
DO NOT TURN YOUR PC OFF OR USE SYSTEM RESTORE! The key to this infection is getting rid of it fast. The longer it remains on your system the more it disables and prevents removal The first thing not to do is click on the X to exit the program or pop-ups if and when they appear. This will only multiply the infection. . Press Alt + F4 to exit the pop-ups. . Next, control panel %26gt; internet options %26gt; connections %26gt; LAN Settings. Make sure the box for use proxie servers is unchecked and that auto detect settings is checked. This should restore your ability to access the net. Next, click on the first link below and choose save. Save the file to your desktop for convenience. Click on the icon and let rkill run. Rkill is not a scanner. It will not scan your computer. Most people think they are unable to download rkill bcoz of it's characteristics. When you click ro run rkill a black screen will appear similar to that of command prompt. It will say scanning to end the process for known malware. The screen will suddenly disappear. This is where people get confused. You do no receive a warning or any other message of what process has been stopped. Nevertheless, when the window for rkill disappears you are ready to download, update and scan with Malwarebytes. If you already have Malwarebytes on your computer at the time you became infected you will probably need to uninstall it and re-install. This is due to the files being corrupted by the infection on your computer. However, when uninstalling you will be prompted to re-start your computer. DO NOT DO THIS. Simply re-instlall. If you re-start your computer the process for the malware will start-up and you will have to run rkill again and even possibly remove and re-install Malwarebytes again as well. Once the scan is complete the log file will open. After pasting, click analyze and wait for the results to display. Scroll down the list to find all entries with a red x next to them. Locate those entries in the Hijack This main window and place check marks in the respective boxes. After all invalid entries have been marked click on %26quot;fix selected%26quot;. You obviously have alot of Spyware and viruses. Try Downloading spybot search and destroy or Superantispyware... Both these programs are free and get the job done:

And remove Malwarebytes. It does nothing but sit at your computer and Choose not to detect Malware until you buy the Pro version.

My problem is that now whenever I have my computer on, a few minutes after I start it up I get messages from an %26quot;antivirus%26quot; program that I do not have, telling me that windows has detected a security threat, that my computer is infected and saying %26quot;click here for the scan you computer%26quot; (certainly a very trustworthy program). I always close the bubble but then I get bombarded with messages that specific files are infected. Usually it says %26quot;Application cannot be executed. The file wuauclt.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?%26quot; I don't know what wuaclt is. Whenever I try to open a program -- any program at all, whether it be itunes or just my program manager, the message changes specific to whatever I'm trying to open: %26quot;the file itunes.exe is infected%26quot; or whatever, and usually the program does not open. These messages come from my taskbar where there is a little blue shield icon with a white stripe. I have tried right-clicking on this icon to close it like I would do with any %26quot;normal%26quot; application in the taskbar, and when I do it pulls up a %26quot;virus scan%26quot; window for %26quot;Antivirus Live%26quot; with 34 infections found -- always the same things. It often, but not always, will also open a window in the main screen of my computer giving me the same message and playing that distinctive %26quot;windows error%26quot; sound. After a while, it will automatically open an IE browser window (I use Firefox) asking me to buy this %26quot;Antivirus Live%26quot; program for $50 to $70. I closed this window a few minutes ago and it automatically opened another IE window with a porn site -- very classy when I%26quot;m working the front desk of my building. It will also open the Windows Security Center automatically, but I don't think it's the real security center because it says that I do not have anti-virus protection when in fact I do.
The first few times this happened, it would either go away on its own after a few minutes, or I could restart my computer and it would work properly on restart. Since my antivirus/antispyware programs weren't finding anything significant I didn't worry too much, and there was a full day of no problems at all. Now, however, the problem seems worse than ever, and I can't even really use my computer. As a college student this is a major problem for me.
AVG has found a few trojans and quite a few tracking cookies, but removing them has not taken care of the problem. The anti-spyware and anti-malware have not found anything. I just downloaded and installed avast, which I used to have a while ago and I prefer over AVG, and I'm currently running a scan but it hasn't found anything yet. I don't know what is going on but it's driving me crazy and I would like any help available to try and fix it.

*DO NOT WIPE YOUR COMPUTER, DO NOT RE-INSTALL YOUR OS, DO NOT REFORMAT*! That %26quot;advice%26quot; is thrown around here in a sad, reckless fashion.
The real fix is time consuming but not nearly to the effect of nuking your computer and replacing the files. It's all right here---I suggest you print the page and check-mark the steps completed as you go:

i didn't read any of that, but if you have too many viruses and you cant get rid of them, email/save onto a permanent disk all you files that you need. wip your hard drive. i had to do that when i had more than 15 viruses and really bad things on my computer. it works and you can get back ur stuff. i emailed my pictures and docs to myself and that's how i got them back.
DO NOT TURN YOUR PC OFF OR USE SYSTEM RESTORE! The key to this infection is getting rid of it fast. The longer it remains on your system the more it disables and prevents removal The first thing not to do is click on the X to exit the program or pop-ups if and when they appear. This will only multiply the infection. . Press Alt + F4 to exit the pop-ups. . Next, control panel %26gt; internet options %26gt; connections %26gt; LAN Settings. Make sure the box for use proxie servers is unchecked and that auto detect settings is checked. This should restore your ability to access the net. Next, click on the first link below and choose save. Save the file to your desktop for convenience. Click on the icon and let rkill run. Rkill is not a scanner. It will not scan your computer. Most people think they are unable to download rkill bcoz of it's characteristics. When you click ro run rkill a black screen will appear similar to that of command prompt. It will say scanning to end the process for known malware. The screen will suddenly disappear. This is where people get confused. You do no receive a warning or any other message of what process has been stopped. Nevertheless, when the window for rkill disappears you are ready to download, update and scan with Malwarebytes. If you already have Malwarebytes on your computer at the time you became infected you will probably need to uninstall it and re-install. This is due to the files being corrupted by the infection on your computer. However, when uninstalling you will be prompted to re-start your computer. DO NOT DO THIS. Simply re-instlall. If you re-start your computer the process for the malware will start-up and you will have to run rkill again and even possibly remove and re-install Malwarebytes again as well.
