I have an Inspiron 1721 laptop and wordpad is the program that always opens documents. How do I change that to make WORD the default program. it is already downloaded to the laptop.

right click a file that you wish Word to open by default. Choose Open With..., and select Choose Program. Choose Word as the program to open the file with and check the box that says %26quot;Always use the selected program to open this kind of file%26quot;
Making WORD the default program?
If you install Word, I think it will make itself the default program automatically. If you already installed it and it did not make itself the default program, follow the steps:
1. Minimize all Windows.
2. Right click an empty part of your desktop.
3. Select new.
4. Select Microsoft Word Document.
5. Right click the new document.
6. Select Open With...
7. Select Microsoft Word.
8. Check Always Open With This Software.
