A program for updating a hard drive?

Hi,

i currently use two hard drives, one my primary, and one for backup, usually for when i change operating systems. the problem is that i am always adding files to my primary hard drive like music and documents. is there a program that will automatically update the secondary hard drive when i add files to a designated folder? thanks for any help

In Windows Vista go to control panel, back up and restore centre. There you can set up a regular scheduled back up to anywhere you want to.

It is already there!

I think you may be talking about something called a 'RAID' controller. Some motherboards have this capability built in. Otherwise you can buy a plug-in card. RAID enables you to share data between hard drives (so it is quicker to access) or to duplicate data on a second hard drive (for security). RAID capability is often configured in the BIOS or, at least, in a separate program that runs at boot-up. If you search on %26quot;RAID%26quot;, you should find more info than I could possibly tell you.
Use the second HDD as a back-up.

Comodo do some really good and effective backup software, with scheduling options.

hi,you don't say what o/s you are using but while browsing some days ago i came across a prog.showing this sort of thing (.Don't take this the wrong way) it was for Vista starters but it went through stages so that you could join in at what level you wanted,i seem to remember there was a similar programme for XP hope this helps.

smudge.
Yes there are. It's called synchronizing. In XP it's called Synchronize and in Vista it's called Sync Center, but in both OS's it's located in the Accessories folder. I've used the appellate in Vista and it works fairly well. Can't advise on the one in XP since I've never used it.

Or you can look on the web for one. Just Google it.
