Is there a way to remove using a default program to open a file with besides changing it with another program?

Meaning, when you attempt to open an unknown file type, it asks you to choose a program to open with. When you choose a program and check the box that says always use this program to open this type of file, the computer will automatically open this file with this particular program. Now my question is, is there a way to remove havinh a default program, and revert it back to the point such that it always asks me to %26quot;open with%26quot; instead?|||Yes you can, heres how

For windows xp (windows 98, nt, 2000 and vista will be in the same general area)

Using regedit, goto the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\W鈥?br>

Ones there, scroll down on the left side to find the ext of the file you want to remove the open with list %26quot;MRU%26quot; list

In the key with the file extension you want to remove the openwith and set back to default, you will see on the left side, openwithlist.

Click it, now on the right, you will see, a,b,c and so on, u can delete the keys with the program names you want to remove from the openwith for that file ext.

That%26#039;s all

Good Luck!|||Select the file and use SHIFT+right click or CTRL+right click. One of them brings a %26quot;Open with...%26quot; option in the menu. YOu should be able to open the file with any other program this way.
