Shawn TV Remote, do i always have to press 0 ?

we have a shaw remote and we always have to press 0 before we change the channel ( 1-3= 0-1-3), is there anyway to program it, so it wont do that anymore?

I think that is a big probelem, but asj the company or look over the booklet or call customer care.
